What can I do or say to give my boyfriend comfort?
A little over a month ago I met this amazing man. We hit it off instantly and decided to see each other exclusively. The first 16 days were absolutely wonderful..then his Mom’s uncle died and sent his Mom over the edge. She is 83 years old and has Alzeheimer’s. It got so bad they had to hospitalize her…she became very angry and combative. His father is in his 80’s as well and is not dealing with all this (not wanting to eat, shower, shave etc.). My boyfriend lives 3 hours from his parents and his 2 siblings live 6 hours away. My boyfriend immediately left to go North to be with his parents. His siblings came the next day. He has been there for 3 weeks now and whenever I talk to him or text him (not very often because he has to not only be there for his Mom but is trying to help his Dad deal with it) he sounds so very sad, depressed and angry. Both of his siblings are married, and have went home a few different times to be with their families. My boyfriend is retired (as well as his brother although his brother is married) so he has been the one to stay there to help with his parents because he isn’t married. My boyfriend did say to me that he hoped I could give him a little time and to be please be stable for him. I told him I would be here for him no matter what and that he could call anytime night or day if he needed someone to talk to. It is so hard that he is 3 hours away….and his family doesn’t even really know anything about our relationship. We had decided to wait to involve family to see if our relationship was going to work. I don’t want to intrude on his family and we both agreed now is not the time to discuss our relationship with his family….he doesn’t need to worry about that right now. I backed off on calling him and texting him, allowing him to be the one to call or text when he was available, I Iet him know that I was doing this because he told me his brother was starting to ask all kinds of questions about "us" and my boyfriend has enough on his plate without having to go into details about our relationship. I know from his texts and talking to him that he is hurting so bad…..I feel helpless as to what to do because our relationship is so new. If we had been together longer I would definitely be there by his side. He has a very tender heart, however he has told me he has had to harden himself in order to deal with all this emotion with his parents. He is a family first type of guy and I have told him that I admire him for all that he is doing. He will be coming home today for a couple of days. I am so excited to be able to see him, however I am not sure how to respond to him. He has had to keep all his feeling bottled up inside of him..I want to be able to say the right things to him and do the right things as well to soothe him. He said he was looking forward to seeing me however he didn’t know what shape he was going to be in….I told him that it was ok, that I am happy just to be able to see him and be near him….I want these couple of days that he is home to be so relaxing and soothing for him…..Please if anyone has any suggestions about any thing I can say or do for him….please let me know…My heart hurts because his is hurting.
He has been through a lot of trauma in these last 3 weeks, seemingly. I suggest you do not bring up the situation. Its just a reminder of his sadness, and when he sees you, you want it be uplifting and a positive experience. You could go out to dinner, suggest a movie, or simply take a walk. I think at this point both of you miss one another and if he wants to talk about it, he will bring it up to you. But if you ask too many questions you may make him sad/angry/distant. So try to not bring it up unless he is ready to, and rent movies, hang out, have sex, go out for thai food, something to take his mind off of what he has gone through. Good luck

Was racism behind the Saints superbowl victory?
The coach of the Colts is African-American. It was a great opportunity to show that black coaches are every bit as good as white coaches (if not better). Some of the calls the refs made (refs were mostly white by the way, didnt know if you knew that) just made me think that race played a factor
That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. If the big bad white refs didn’t want a black coach to win, they why did Mike Tomlin’s Steelers win the Super Bowl last year. Plus, you imply that black coaches could be better than white coaches. Basing coaching ability on race is racist. If your looking for a racist, look in a mirror.

It wasn’t Coach Caldwell who went with an onside kick at the beginning of the second half. It also wasn’t Caldwell who went for two to extend the lead. It was Coach Payton. White, black, green, it doesn’t matter. The Colts were outcoached.

1. Peyton Manning threw a game changing interception
2. Sean Payton had some ballsy calls that changed the momentum of the game like the on-side kick and going for 2 instead of 1.

Constantine had absolutely nothing to do with the compilation of the Bible. The Bible was compiled by the bishops of the Catholic Church, once and for all time, at the Council of Carthage, when Constantine was about ten years old. And the books that were not included in the Canon of Scripture were not destroyed. Such apocryphal works are still available for anyone who wants to read them.

a.) The current New Testament canon was in existence by the end of the second century. We know that because a list of canonical books was produced by Iraeneus in 180.
b.) It was rubber stamped and made "official" at the Council of Carthage in 397, by ehich time Constantine had been dead for sixty years.
c.) Anybody who wants to can buy compilations of those "destroyed" books from Amazon.
d.) Why don’t atheists get themselves some history lessons, or are they just too intellectually lazy?

Of the few I’ve read:
‘A Prayer for Owen Meany’ is amazing; I cannot recommend it highly enough. (John Irving’s ‘The World According to Garp’ is also very good.)
‘The Catcher in the Rye’ can be life-changing, but you need to read it when you’re young! Once you hit your mid-twenties or so, it’s starts to lose its magic. 
I was very disappointed by ‘Cold Mountain’–I’ve tried three times, and I can’t get more than halfway through the book before giving up from frustration and boredom (and I rarely give up on books!). The language is beautiful but the story is slooooow.

The Tony Hillermans will go quick and be very interesting. The Mitford books were great but they would be more of a senior read I think. I loved Band of Brothers but it is about war and can be very sad. I LOVE Dee Henderson and the Negotiator is one of a series of The O’Malleys which I read pretty much every year. You are lucky to have such a great selection to choose from, I don’t think you can go wrong, any of the titles will be enriching!!

WOW, I am very well read, and I have only read two of the books you have mentioned here. Therefore, I can only recommend Skinwalkers and Dance Hall of the Dead. Hillerman crafts excellent stories, and Skinwalkers is one of the best.

Guinea Pigs, TWITCHING&SCARED HELP!!?
My guinea pig, smooth coated, all black, the name is Bean. He has a pretty big cage, hideout dome, chews, timothy hay, food, water, bedding, salt licks, a leash and a brush, his own bathtub, his own shampoo. Yeah, but me and him have a pretty good relationship. We used to. I always am with him, and hes not scared around me at all. But one day, I left the house for a whole day and night. When I came back, his cage wasnt perfect and clean, there was feces ALL over and everything was moved around because of Bean. BTW: Hes potty trained. And he would jump, squirm and twith also. Bean was a little scared to. Idk what happened. WHAT I NEED TO MENTION IF YOU NEED TO KNOW: Was the twitching because of the heat drop in my house?
It sounds like Bean missed you a lot while you were gone. He is used to seeing you and feels safe when you are there. He was probably afraid and wondering if you were ever coming back.
