ok. so my friend was dating this guy who is 21. she is 15. they live in florida. they had sex. it wasnt rape. she was ok with it. they both knew how old each other were. they love each other and were together for about 7 months. her mom knew about everything and was ok with it. she had even planned on letting the guy move in with them. then for some reason, her mom called the cops and pressed charges on the guy. so now he has a charge for statutory rape and is looking at 5 years in prison. they have both told the police that her mom knew about it and that it was not rape. they love eachother a lot and are still together [though no one can know about it], talk as much as they can, and when he gets out of prison or she turns 18 [whichever comes first] they are planning on getting married and moving in together.
so im wondering if there is anything they can do to get the charges dropped or at least reduced?
if you have personally experienced something like this and/or really know what youre talking about, that would be really great.

sorry, i’m only 13 so i know i’m not much help. i also don’t know much of the law and stuff. but i just wanna say, her mum KINDA screwed/ruined her daughters live, relationship and future. why would a mother do that if they knew how much their son or daughter loves a person? i feel very bad for both your friend and her boyfriend. hope it’ll turn outfine soon.

Very serious matter! a Girl that is 15 years old should’nt be allowed to have sex with 21 year old’s, and a Mother of a 15year old would’nt be fine with this, no matte what the situation!

The only one who can drop the charges is the one who filed them in the first place. And I know this girl is your friend, but I don’t believe the mom was ok with all of this and then would turn around and make a complaint. That makes no sense. Anyway – the guy needs to get a good lawyer (not a court appointed lawyer) and the girl needs to write a letter on his behalf and make sure the judge gets it. Either way it’s likely this guy will see his name added to the sex offender registry list. He should have known better – he’s 21 and she’s just a kid.

Can any shia show the Quranic verses that state we need an Immamat system?
Let’s see what is the argument of one of the classic gurus of 12ers:
"… Rationality tells us that surely there should be an infallible leader at every time who is not relying on people in matters and science -of religion- because it is impossible that people live in a time when there are no leaders to bring them closer to good and farther from bad and every non-complete human needs some one to advise him and every oppressor needs some one to control him … and there should be some one who teaches those who don’t know and waken up ignorant, advise misguided and perform the Hodood (Punishments of Shariat) … and solve the differences of opinion and appoint governors and defend the borders and protect properties … and gather people for Eids and collective prayers. (Ershad by Mofid – Section 36).
As it can be seen, this scholar who was one of the ones who established 12er doctrine clearly says that there always need to an infallible Imaam at all times who could practically (and in a tangible way) direct and guide people (look at the bold words). It seems that to people like Mofid who was quite close to the beginning of what 12ersa refer to as the greater occultation of Mahdi. The expectation was that the occultation will not last for a long period and Mahdi will appear shortly otherwise all the above argument (knowing that Mahdi is not accessible) had no points.
The above is the understanding of other classic 12er scholars as well but I preferred to quote from one of the main ones that is considered as one of the pillars of the 12er scholars.
As you see, the Mahdi that is the subject of our debate with 12ers is the one that the classic 12er Shia believed in as some one who practically and in a tangible way leads people. If an Imaam could be hidden and not available to people then what is the point of arguing for the necessity of having a God appointed leader at the first place?
To change the function of Mahdi to be able to justify his long occultation is nothing but changing the whole story to be able to escape from the truth. It is exactly like changing the function of Quran (from the book of guidance to a book that is only completed by Hadeeth and needs the explanation of 12er Imams) to be able to justify why the 12er theory of Imaamat is not mentioned in Quran.
2.Imaam’s benefit in occultation is like the benefit if sun when it’s behind the cloud.
This is nothing but a poetic justification of the problem. What is exactly meant by sun behind clouds? Even sun behind the clouds has many benefits. You can still find your way when the sun is behind the cloud. However is there any clue from Mahdi now days to direct the Shia in Iran in any way? There are lots of controversy issues in Iran these days among the scholars in terms of Islam and modernism, the extend of the power of Walye Faqih (the leader), etc. There are certain Shia scholars (Mojtaheds) that are in home arrest because they are not agree with the current policies and leader. Was there any letters, voices, what ever from Mahdi to clear up a bit of these difficulties? Which one of these Mojtaheds who are in sever disagreement with each other are directed and led by Mahdi and how are the 12er people suppose to realise that?
There is a difference between a fairy tale and reality and I hope some Shia could realize it.
To conclude, I think by refraining from entering never ending debates about minor issues and sticking to the major issue both Shia and mainstream Muslims will be able to come to conclusions faster. I tried to explain in my article that the main issue in debate with 12er Shia is their doctrine of Imaamat.
I further described that the best never answered question for Shia is to ask them for prove for their doctrine from Quran (simply by pasting the verse with no commentary) and to ask them about the practicability of their doctrine in the absent of an accessible Imaam. These remain as two severe problems with Shia belief and no answer could be given for them unless new verses of Quran come down and their so called Imaam of Time come out of his occultation. As I don’t think that any of these would happen I had no problems in posting this here knowing that Shia brothers and sisters will also read it. There are no hidden plans. These are facts.

I feel…depressed. Lifeless. Empty?
Soo..this is definetely weird for me. I never thought I’d be the one making a post like this but especially lately, I’ve been feeling depressed. It all started last year..I went from the small, comfortable middle school where I knew everybody and I got good grades. I graduated number 3 and I just loved my friends. Then, when I entered highschool, I felt like I was thrown into the lion’s den. I hardly ever saw the people that were my actual good friends. I’ve had many acquaintances in the past and they always come and go but I always had a select few who stuck. I also have encountered people who are just reckless and have the perfect "I don’t give a f*ck" attitude. The older guys were just losers who were bored and were very openly critical, thinking their the hottest things ever when they’re just plain ugly. I just felt so out of place and so distant from my old friends. I soon began to became depressed where throughout the whole entire day, I would feel extremely tired and just unable to communicate with people. Last year, I become really self-conscious and I felt so unwanted by everyone/anyone. I pretty much felt like a piece of crap and everything just went downhill. I was falling and I couldn’t catch myself. It was a feeling I’ve never experienced before and my life was dying, piece by piece right before my eyes. I was only half of what I use to be and now this year, the feelings have entered once again, even stronger than before. I can honestly say I don’t give a sh*t about ANYTHING anymore. Nothing..my grades are totally slipping and I don’t care. I know on the inside I’m telling myself, "wth is wrong with you? get off your ass and do some work." I hardly have done my homework at all this year so far. I know deep down I do care and I WANT to care soo bad but my initial reaction to school is just "F*ck this stupid sh*t." I don’t want to correct my mistakes because I don’t want to visit the realization. The realization of that I am completely failing at life and doing everything I told myself I WOULDN’T be doing plus more. The only thing I’m not doing wrong is getting involved in drugs which I’m too emotionless and dead to even think about doing. I feel completely lifeless and tired. Recently, I’ve felt especially empty..I’m never depressed. Just empty…Today was not even joking, this was my worst day in a really long time.Let’s just say I felt like skipping(first time ever here people, just to let you know. I went with my instinct) and the g*d damn lady snitched me to my school. My school found out and when I came back..blehhh. It was just horrible, never been so ashamed in my whole life. Pretty much, I can’t deal with getting yelled or even scolded at. I feel embrassed enough when the teacher tells me to stop talking in the middle of class but then everyone found out I skipped the first two periods? I just couldn’t handle it so what I did for lunch was just go into the bathroom and sulk. I don’t cry anymore..I’m done with crying and tears. I’ve done that too much last year. What I’m pretty much telling you is that I’m so done with these emotions that I really don’t have them anymore and I don’t care about anything. Friends, family, school…I really just want to stay in my room all day to the leisure of my own comfy bed. I wanna sleep my high school years away. My parents also don’t help at all..They just see me as the bratty teen and doesn’t motivate me at all. They don’t really step in on anything and for all you know, I could be doing drugs and getting stoned out my mind everyday. Only then would they probably do something. Just trust me on this..I love them and they’re good people but..they’re not exactly the parents that push their kids to the best of what they can be. They just expect their kids to be hard workers and have drive. I don’t have that..I never really had but this year and last year, it all dried up and disappeared. Pretty much I’m just asking…am I depressed? Is there anyway I can talk to a therapist or someone along those lines..privately and secretly though? The last thing I need is for everyone to know..
If you go to see your local doctor you can talk with them about your feelings. Doctors have to keep anything you say confidential. I think you will feel a lot better with yourself if you just talk to someone about this. If they are unable to help then you can ask them to refer you to a specialist. Good luck

I really need help with my life!! Please help me!?
Okay so I am living the opposite of my dreams. Three key things:
1. My family is not doing so good, economically and personally.
2. One of my family members basically doesn’t know how to live.
3. My old BFF is betraying me and a bunch of other people.
Now more detail:
1.
My mom yells at my grandmother a whole lot because she tells people stuff. I might not blame her, but my mom’s personality is bad in my opinion. She gets real upset when she sees something she doesn’t like and when it isn’t done HER way. It seems that everything has to be HER way. She’s wearing the pants of the house, to tell you the truth. I sort of want her to be more calm, without forcing her or really pushing it, if you know what I mean. I don’t want her to get angry so much because it really wrecks the house and breaks the family apart further. She’s also pushing me to grow up too fast, physically, and she wants the "perfect" child.

My uncle is stubborn sometimes, and it seems to be that he doesn’t know how to raise a child. He’s raising two girls, which one I have to "babysit". My mom helps him I guess way too much, and I think that he doesn’t know how to live at all. Cleaning, painting and all that stuff– you name it, she will help him. I even missed a braces appointment just because of my uncle. Wow. Now I have to keep my braces on longer. I seriously think this should stop. So basically my mom is not showing him how to live, just doing it all for him.
3.
My best friend who is older than me by one year because we were in a combo class, basically betrayed me. She and her friend were making fun of me and calling me these names. Bullying basically. How do I get her back or get back at them? It’s not fair at all. She’s ruining my life, and I really don’t know how to live without worrying. At first, I thought that I could live my life happily without this wreck, but, of course, NOT. Please help!

Oh yeah, and I need tips on this guy. He’s like my good friend, but I think I really like him. What do I do?
Wow. You really have a predicament on your hand, don’t you? Alright.
1. I know you said you don’t want to force it, but I’d suggest talking to her. My dad is similar. He’s extremely short tempered, and he sometimes didn’t talk to my entire family for a week. During these times, I would always think, "What’s going to happen? Are mom and dad going to get a divorce?" So, I talked to my dad. I’m not going to lie, it was by FAR the hardest thing that I’ve ever done in my entire life. He got angry, and disagreed with everything. However, the other day, he came up to me, after a horrible day at work, and talked to me. He said I was right. It made me feel great. But, if you were going to talk to your mom, then I’d really only do it when she has time. Not when she’s in a rush.
2. This uncle problem might be something you express your opinion’s about in your conversation with your mom. It is his life however, and your mom is basically controlling it. Missing your braces appointment is really ridiculous. You are her daughter, and you are her priority, not your uncle. Your uncle should not have had children if he doesn’t know how to take care of them; let alone himself. I really do believe that maybe even talking to him. To be totally honest, talking is one of the best ways to relieve problems. "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words can break my heart." You’ve heard that quote right? Well, it can also work vice-versa. Words can mend hearts as well. Not actions. I’m not a pacifist either…I play Call of Duty. So trust me when I say that words really work much better than actions, and words is the key to hearts.
3. I don’t feel that your friend is being fair, and I think you should watch the link below:

I don’t think It’d be right to get back at her. Simply ignore her. Now, I understand that that is MUCH easier said than done. I had this same problem, and it was with a girl. She changed so much, that eventually I took her number out of my phone book, and ignored any texts from her. If she’s not going to be nice to me, why does she deserve my respect? There was this other guy that I hung with, but he wasn’t my best friend. However, with the group of guys he hung out with, I was able to find a really awesome dude! We hang out all the time. Sometimes, finding new people is the best thing. Now, again, this is easier said than done. But hopefully the video above helped you to identify that it shouldn’t matter what others think of you because life is extremely short, and you want to live it the best you possibly can.
For the guy issue:
I’m a guy so I’m really bad with relationship stuff. Ha, but I do think you should go for it. Start by asking him who he likes, etc. Then, eventually, he might tell one of his friends, and then he’ll tell someone, and the chain keeps going. Then, one of your friends will hear it, and then she/he will share the information with you. If he likes you, then go for it. However, if he doesn’t, then move on. I know some pretty bad chicks that I’ve liked, and they haven’t liked me. We’re good friends now. So, in the end, I think that It’ll all work out. Just don’t stay in your shell!!
